GENIUS LED recessed ceiling downlights for external on/off or DALI power supply units

Flush-mounting installation


The downlights are designed for flush-mounting installation in suspended plasterboard ceilings.

They belong to the GENIUS series of downlights. These luminaires with hybrid optics make use of the advantages of lens and reflector technology.This results in highly efficient, low-loss optical systems with optimum glare suppression and very compact dimensions. We do not use any plastic lenses, but only materials that are permanently resistant to ageing, such as glass, aluminium and silicone.

An on/off power supply unit or DALI power supply unit can be optionally connected to the luminaire by means of simple plug connectors. External power supply units for operating these luminaires are accessories and must be ordered separately.

If these luminaires are to be integrated into an LCN or ZigBee-controlled building management system, we recommend our BEGA Control light control system.

The required installation depths can be found in the instructions for use for these luminaires.

The luminaire luminous flux and the luminaire connected wattage quoted in the table might change as a result of technical progress. On our website you will find data sheets with information on each luminaire concerning not only the current values but also the LED service life and the luminous flux in relation to the respective colour temperature.

Installation

Lighting technology

BEGA luminaires are available with different lighting parameters to provide efficient solutions for demanding lighting applications in a wide range of architectural situations.


BEGA hybrid optics

In order to maximise efficiency, BEGA is increasingly using hybrid optics in technical indoor and outdoor luminaires. Luminaires with these optical systems utilise the perfect interplay of precisely dimensioned reflectors with a pure aluminium finish and lenses made of ultra-clear silicone (Liquid Silicone Rubber, LSR). These hybrid optics offer a large number of advantages over conventional systems.

The hybrid optical systems are the perfect light transfer carriers for our LED technology. In all its optical systems, BEGA relies exclusively on durable materials that are subject to practically no wear.


In the search for good lighting, our silicone-based lenses have significant advantages over synthetic carbon-based lenses. Silicones are inorganic polymers which differ significantly from the organic polymers in thermoplastic synthetic materials (PC, PMMA and PMMI) in that they are resistant to ageing, even under extreme conditions like high temperatures and UV radiation. Thermoplastic synthetic materials, on the other hand, can suffer permanent damage through such external influences, but also simply through the operation of the LED and its blue content in the light spectrum and through the heat generated by the luminaire.

Together with the high-precision reflectors, the lenses ensure that practically all of the light from the LED module is captured by the hybrid optical system, relayed and used for optimum light distribution. This is what distinguishes it from conventional light deflection methods, in which only part of the light emitted is deflected or directed – while a large amount of light leaves the luminaire without optical light deflection.

All in all, this provides brilliant light distribution, a combination of reflected light from the reflectors and directional light from the silicone lenses.

Compared to other materials, the durability of the outstanding optical properties allows the consistent implementation of critical requirements for most innovative applications, even in changing ambient conditions.


LED technology

LED technology has redefined acquired standards and assessment criteria and created undreamt-of possibilities for designing with light. The sum total of its advantages makes this technology a milestone in lighting technology.
We use the superiority of LED in the development of new luminaires, but also in the technical perfection of existing luminaire series. In doing so, we go well beyond the applications normally expected on the market. We do this responsibly, competently and with a sense of proportion – but above all reliably. After all, reliability and a high standard of product quality are among our elementary values and convictions.In the development of our luminaires, therefore, thermo-management represents a great challenge. Efficiency and service life are already convincing and still improving. Module output and shape are variable and can be perfectly adapted to each luminaire. In addition to using high-grade components, we have also made design-related changes which contribute to favourable temperature conditions inside the luminaires.
