In the south of Sauerland, surrounded by green fields and wooded hills, you will find Gut Ahe – a traditional country inn with its own hotel, farm café and even a registry office. The attraction is rounded off with a modern, light-flooded event venue, which offers space for parties, conferences and weddings with up to 140 guests. The lighting concept was realised using BEGA luminaires, which contribute significantly to the new event hall’s versatility and create the desired lighting mood for every event.
The expansive area of Gut Ahe in Kirchhundem comprises an ensemble of a country inn, farm café and hotel, which blend harmoniously into the Sauerland mountains. In this idyllic location, over the course of about a year, a new event venue was built under the name “FRIGGEN!”. Both the interior and the adjacent terrace are wheelchair-accessible. The interior design thrives on clean lines, the juxtaposition of wood and black tones, and a spaciously open, cosy atmosphere. The venue is also an homage to the history of the site: in the past, cows and horses were housed in a stable in the same spot. Although the stable was demolished and replaced by a new build, the silhouette, the sheet metal roof and the omnipresent use of wood are consciously reminiscent of the site’s original use.
At the heart of the lighting concept are BEGA track spotlights, which are operated via a three-phase light rail system. The black rails blend subtly into the look of the hall and are attached to the wooden ceiling. Light rails are also installed vertically and horizontally on the laminated timber studding, enabling flexible placement of the luminaires and targeted illumination of different areas of the room. The rails make the luminaires extremely simple and flexible to install. This allows the luminaires to be individually targeted and added to without needing to lay new cable for every luminaire. This enables individual lighting scenarios for weddings, private parties or company events.
The new event hall is intentionally open and inviting in its design. On stepping inside, the large, floor-length windows instantly catch the eye. They let daylight in and offer an unobstructed view of the surrounding landscape of Sauerland. At the same time, the warm wooden ceiling and clean, linear architecture create a modern yet cosy atmosphere. The flexible luminaire system with BEGA track spotlights subtly blends into the concept. The symmetrical wide-beam, swivelling and rotating spotlights made of velvet black cast aluminium selectively illuminate the individual tables. Their light is pleasantly warm and glare-free, accentuating the natural grain of the wood and complementing the muted colours of the interior. The flexible alignment of the luminaires creates islands of light that enable different room situations for every kind of event.
Additional BEGA track spotlights with RGBW technology contribute to the concept’s extraordinary versatility. Their light colour can be flexibly and infinitely controlled via DALI, allowing the mood to be adjusted to any occasion. For example, warm white light creates a festive atmosphere for business dinners and weddings, and cool light tones support focused work conferences, while colourful accents create the perfect atmosphere for relaxed birthday parties. The room is always appropriately and attractively illuminated.
